The U.S. Department of Transportation Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices reference guide is the standardized source for the development and design of highway signs and pavement markings. Many technological innovations since its initial publication have changed the way in which highway road signs are designed and created, most notably through the use of computer based hardware systems. While this has automated the creation of highway road signs, many non-standard or incomplete electronic designs for highway road sign development have emerged. The MUTCD Complete Digital Editions are the first complete sign design and reference software developed for the American commercial and public markets which incorporate the entire MUTCD sign and symbol library and provides the user with the necessary tools to customize their own signs or modify existing signs while conforming to the Federally mandated MUTCD specifications.

Designed as a supplement to the 2003 Federal Edition of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Federal MUTCD Standard Highway Signs Manual (SHS), the MUTCD 2003 California Supplement includes all of the signs published in the 2003 Edition of the California MUTCD. Please note that this package includes only those signs which are specific to California. For the complete Federal MUTCD and California MUTCD signs you must purchase one of the Federal MUTCD Editions outlined above and the MUTCD California Supplement. This supplement will be available in CAD, EPS, and FlexiSIGN Editions. Expected release date is first quarter 2006.

As an added bonus, we have included a free FHWA Series 2000EX font in both PostScript, TrueType, and TrueType OS X formats. Current samples are limited to EPS format files. CAD versions will be posted soon.

Please note that you will need WinZip (Windows) or Stuffit Expander (Mac OS) to expand the archived files. The sample sign package contains signs encoded in the EPS vector format for maximum quality and compatibility for testing. The sample files have locked layers, flattened type and hairlined stroked outline layers. To install the fonts, please consult the PDF documentation included in the download. By downloading the sample files you are agreeing to the Terms of the End User License Agreements for both the MUTCD signs and the FHWA fonts which are included in PDF documentation.
